Conway Center at Benning Road

The Conway Center is a high impact, mixed-use project located directly across from the Benning Road Metro Station in Northeast D.C., a distressed community census tract with a 30.1 percent unemployment rate and 25.9 percent poverty rate. DCHE awarded $11.3 million in New Markets Tax Credits to the Conway Center across from the Benning Road Metro station in Northeast. The 320,000 square-foot building will house 200 low-income families; host a 29-room medical center operated by Unity Health Care, SOME’s Center for Employment Training, after school programming, SOME staff offices, and retail space. DCHA also is providing an operating subsidy by way of 20 Housing Choice Vouchers and 142 Local Rent Subsidy Program vouchers. The complex, which is being built with a host of community and national partners, is set to be completed 2017.
