Barry Farm families were full of holiday cheer last week.

A holiday gift pick-up was held for families on December 20 at the Barry Farm Recreation Center and hosted by A Wider Circle and their friends.  Each year A Wider Circle encourages volunteer shoppers to purchase gifts for Barry Farm families. This past Thursday, the families were invited to pick up those gifts at the recreation center while enjoying visits with old neighbors and life-long friends. .

In collaboration with the Barry Farm Resident Council, the Barry Farm development partners Preservation of Affordable Housing, or POAH, hosted residents for a Barry Farm Holiday Party. The party was held  Saturday, December 22 at Matthews Memorial Baptist Church.

Neighbors, friends, and family enjoyed music, a holiday meal, and each other’s company. Children played games for toys and prizes. Everyone enjoyed donning an elf hat and helping children pick out gifts and taking group photos.

Barry Farm Resident Council President Rhonda Edward-Hines thanked the community, POAH, and the District of Columbia Housing Authority for their efforts. She also had a special thank you for her acting vice president, Victoria Williams.
