Preparing for college can be a challenge, but District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA) high school-aged youth, through the dcConnectHome College Access Academy, will have the opportunity to access resources designed to help them successfully navigate the process.

On January 20, dcConnectHome is kicking off year two of its College Access Academy in collaboration with the CollegeBoard and College Success Foundation. The Academy will consist of free college preparation workshops and office hours for students and their parents.  

Sessions will be held beginning in January 2018 and run through June 2018 at the United Negro College Knowledge Center, located at 1805 7th St. N.W. near the Howard-Shaw Metro stop.

January 20 – Academic Prep and Enrichment and Office Hours

February 17 – Office Hours only

March 17 – SAT Practice and Office Hours

April 21 – College Planning and Admissions and Office Hours

May 5 – Office Hours Only

May 19 – Financial Aid and Scholarships and Office Hours

June 16 – Office Hours Only

The College Success Foundation also offers Parent University as a resource for parents seeking a better understanding of the process of preparing and applying for college and how to best support their children during the journey. Parent University is available during the workshop dates listed above.

Workshops hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parent University hours are 3 to 5 p.m.
