The Benning Terrace community enjoyed a barbecue and games, while learning more about the neighborhood services available to them.
The First Rock Baptist Church sponsored the family-oriented day where health providers spoke to adults about preventative care and other health services. Urban Outreach, The Keys to Canaan, and Community Wellness Alliance were among the providers on hand.
In addition, children enjoyed games, face painting, crafts, and more. Some 325 children also received book bags full of supplies to help them prepare for the coming school year. Children throughout DCHA’s portfolio will be receiving more book bags this week.
DCHA would like to thank other community partners, including Contemporary Family Services, Leadership Council of Healthy Communities, Benning Terrace Resident Council, Safer Stronger D.C., Sixth District Metropolitan Police Department, and East of the River Family Strengthening Collaborative for their participation in the community day.
