Three homeowners from the District of Columbia Housing Authority are proudly featured in an upcoming advertisement in the Washington Informer.
The three individuals, James Black, Tina Pringle, and Sharon Coffey, each worked through DCHA homeownership programs to reach their goals and purchase their own homes in the District.
“I’m honored to be in the ad because I came a long way,” said Pringle. “The program has a lot to offer me. I’ve been making my classes, whatever they ask me to do I do. I’ve really been blessed.”
Pringle said at every step of her journey, she had people in her corner, from DCHA’s Alice Revel to Wheeler Creek’s Ms. Swann, she said supporting her from start to finish.
“When I got started it was a struggle,” she said. “I gave it my all. I gave it a good run. For me knowing I conquered what I set out to do, I’m just overwhelmed and ecstatic about it.”
Black said he is still adjusting to owning a home. He said he is still working on getting furniture for his home and straightening out issues with the post office – homeowner-type issues.
“I haven’t gotten to cookout yet,” he said.
He did, however, refer several of his friends and family to look into DCHA’s homeownership programs themselves. He said many of them signed up.
For the three homeowners in this ad, those that have successfully purchased homes, and the many more that are working towards that goal, the new ad celebrates their achievements.
